Do Drugs Breed Geniuses?

I like the Human mind, you got to agree with me its a marvel.. a rare piece of work devoid of debauchery and all that mediocrity that makes the world. The human mind is gifted with something called intelligence, which is a preserve for the select few.

Intelligence is associated with where we stand in matters civilization, innovation and inventions. You got to give it to Intelligence. Morality dictates that the more morally conscious folks are supposed to clearly distinguish between good and bad without much fuss.

I was going over a recent report about Intelligent people and their usage of drugs, a rather weird combo if you ask me. You can’t tell me you have never stumbled upon a really bright fella with weirdo tendencies, if you haven’t then you also probably hail from Timbuktu. Smart people the report indicated, tend to experiment with Drugs than the average lot..it further says, “The correlation probably has something to do with the open-mindedness that comes with intelligence”…while that might sound so wacko and far from the truth it still has a tinge of Truth in it.

The report further says,”This is because, according to many studies, a smarter person isn’t more likely to choose the “smarter” choice of not doing drugs but is instead more likely to pursue the more evolutionary novel choice, one that would inherently expand their horizons. Smarter people don’t necessarily ‘think smarter’ – they simply rationalize where they’re supposed to “feel.” So while a less intelligent person is less likely to pick up a heroin habit in the first place, the more intelligent person will rationalize it. “Very bright” individuals (with IQs above 125) are roughly three-tenths of a standard deviation more likely to consume psychoactive drugs than “very dull” individuals (with IQs below 75).”…while mulling over this you might want to think about a few case studies in mind you have Bill Gates who admitted to using LSD, which is a psychedelic drug of the ergoline family, well known for its psychological effects, which can include altered thinking processes. Steve Jobs the Apple Godfather admitted to using the same Drug too at one point.

Charles Dickens a renowned author and probably the man who changed our view on Christmas with his book , A Christmas Carol was a man who found great pleasure in using Opium. He died of Opium related stroke.

Marilyn Monroe who graced Hollywood with her Legendary performances had a fetish for drugs and Alcohol. Eventually it might have led to her death. Other notable junkies who had serious matter between their ears are, Winston Churchill, the former British PM who dearly loved Whisky and more recently Robert Downey Junior (known for his Iron man role) who was literally addicted to everything under the sun.

Alcohol and drug addiction certainly won’t make you a genius, but getting help for substance abuse may be the smartest thing you’ll ever do.
