NCBA has recognised businesses and partners supporting trade, transport and logistics in Kenya’s Coast region through the 2026 NCBA Johari Awards, with the bank highlighting the role of asset finance in helping businesses acquire vehicles, machinery and other productive assets.
The annual awards brought together players from the motor vehicle, insurance, trade, logistics and commercial transport sectors in Mombasa, a key gateway for the movement of goods and people into and out of Kenya.
NCBA Group Director, Asset Finance and Business Solutions Lennox Mugambi said asset finance remains critical to the region’s transport and logistics economy by enabling businesses to invest in productive assets without bearing the full cost upfront.
“Asset finance plays a major role in keeping trade moving, connecting goods to markets and supporting the transport and logistics sector in this region. As Kenya’s leading asset finance bank, NCBA continues to support businesses across key sectors by financing commercial vehicles, equipment, machinery and other productive assets that enable growth and economic participation.”
Mombasa’s role as a major trade and logistics hub has created sustained demand for commercial vehicles, specialised equipment and other assets used across the region’s economy. These include prime movers transporting cargo from the Port of Mombasa, logistics equipment, manufacturing machinery and cold-chain infrastructure supporting agriculture and fisheries value chains.
For small and medium-sized businesses, transport operators and fleet owners, asset financing provides an alternative to paying for vehicles and equipment in full, allowing them to preserve working capital while putting productive assets into use.
The NCBA Johari Awards are being held across 10 counties, with the Mombasa edition focusing on businesses and partners operating within the region’s trade, logistics and commercial transport ecosystem.
The 2026 awards will recognise more than 150 partners, including regional winners and national champions, as NCBA seeks to highlight businesses and individuals contributing to Kenya’s mobility and enterprise sectors.
This year’s awards also carry a sustainability focus, with NCBA incorporating environmental activities such as a national tree-planting initiative as part of its broader sustainability agenda.
“As we celebrate the achievements of our partners and stakeholders, we are also looking ahead at the kind of growth that we want to support in the years to come. Sustainability reminds us that business growth and responsibility go hand in hand. Through tree planting, we are encouraging our partners, customers and communities to take collective action and contribute to a healthier environment and a more sustainable future.” Added Mugambi.
