Wakadinali, Ssaru headline Tusker Oktobafest in Mombasa
Tusker Oktobafest brought its nationwide celebration of Kenyan beer, music and culture back to Mombasa at the weekend, with a free event at 1922 in Nyali headlined by Wakadinali and Ssaru.
The event was the festival’s second at the Coast, following earlier stops in Eldoret, Nanyuki and Nairobi, and closed out Kenya Breweries Limited’s (KBL) month of beer.
Base to Billboardz music collective Keteh opened the night with the debut of their party record “Umebant”, followed by Gengetone star Ssaru. Rap group Wakadinali closed the show, with members Scar, Domani Munga, Sir Bwoy and Sewersydaa all on stage.
Revellers enjoyed KBL’s range of lagers, stouts, ciders and malts.
“The overwhelming turnout at today’s event and previous editions across the country are a testament to the growing need for authentic, local experiences accessible to consumers wherever they are, and reaffirms our decision to scale the festival to a nationwide celebration,” said Rediet Yigezu, marketing manager at KBL.
“We are excited to extend this celebration beyond the month of beer to reach even more of our consumers.”
The festival continues into November, with stops at Nebraska in Ugunja on 7 November, Space Next Door in Nakuru on 14 November and Big Tree in Mombasa on 21 November.
KBL is also running flash sales and exclusive discounts on its beers at supermarkets and selected e-commerce partners.
First held in 2019, Tusker Oktobafest bills itself as East Africa’s biggest beer festival. It features more than 10 beer varieties, including Tusker Lager, Tusker Malt, Tusker Lite, Tusker Cider, Guinness, Balozi, Manyatta, WhiteCap and Pilsner.
