Equity Afya, the healthcare franchise under the Equity Group Foundation (EGF), has been at the forefront of providing affordable and quality healthcare services across Kenya since its establishment in 2015. 

At its very core, Equity Afya was initially structured to meet the rising demand for quality medical care. Over time, it has experienced a remarkable growth with 127 outpatient medical centers in Kenya and 5 in DRC as of 31st December 2024.

A huge aspect of this initiative is the ambitious plan to establish 300 operational Medical Centres in Kenya by 2025; already, 123 (number of medical centers) Medical Centres have been established as of December 202,4 with a clear trajectory towards achieving this target.

These Medical Centres come stocked with ultra-modern facilities and full of certified human resources who ensure that patients are served with standardized, high-quality services.

• Empowering Medical Professionals: Equity Afya offers a platform for alumni of the Equity Leaders Program, qualified health professionals, to join the franchise. Through this initiative, it caters not only to the employment needs of these professionals but also ensures that the management of the medical centers is under committed management with a deep understanding of local healthcare challenges.
• Community Health Outreach: In Migori, Nyamira, and Busia, for example, the founding of new medical centres has not only expanded access to medical services but also significantly increased health literacy among to residents. The same Medical Centres have continued to carry out regular outreach activities within the community, emphasizing that the best healthcare practice is preventive, maternal and child healthcare, and management of chronic diseases. Such opportunities bring about better health outcomes because the goal is to reduce illness that can be prevented.

• Expansion: Equity Afya’s model has expanded with its first five Equity Afya medical centres in DRC, to improve access to healthcare. EquityBCDC promised that Equity would further strengthen the scale of Equity Afya’s model, marking a significant step toward revolutionizing healthcare delivery in the region.
