Old Mutual Introduces Flexible Motor Insurance Payments and Travel eSIM Services in Kisumu

Old Mutual General Insurance Kenya has introduced two insurance solutions in Kisumu, allowing customers to spread comprehensive motor insurance payments over three months and access mobile connectivity alongside travel insurance.

The new offerings, Motor-Rahisi and an Airalo eSIM integration, were unveiled during the insurer’s Kisumu Market Storm, as Old Mutual seeks to improve customer convenience and expand access to financial solutions.

Motor-Rahisi enables customers to pay their comprehensive motor insurance premiums over a period of up to three months, providing greater flexibility in managing insurance costs.

Through its partnership with Airalo, Old Mutual Travel Insurance customers can also access digital eSIM services covering more than 200 countries and regions. The integration allows travelers to purchase data plans, activate them digitally and manage data usage and top-ups without relying on physical SIM cards.

Old Mutual General Insurance Kenya Managing Director Japheth Ogalloh said the solutions were designed to address customers’ changing needs while making insurance services more accessible.

“Customers increasingly expect solutions that are convenient and responsive to their everyday needs. Motor-Rahisi gives motorists greater flexibility in managing the cost of comprehensive insurance, while our partnership with Airalo brings protection and connectivity together in one convenient digital journey,” said Ogalloh.

Ogalloh also encouraged households and businesses to review their insurance policies and strengthen preparedness measures amid the possibility of El Niño conditions later in the year. He urged customers to understand their exposure to weather-related risks and take steps to protect their homes, vehicles and businesses.

The Kisumu engagement forms part of Old Mutual’s There Will Be Signs campaign, which focuses on financial wellness, savings, retirement planning and long-term investment.

“Financial wellness starts with recognizing the signs and taking action early. Through the Market Storm, we are encouraging customers to build stronger savings habits, plan for retirement and invest consistently for the long term. Our ambition is to help more Kenyans move beyond immediate financial needs to building sustainable wealth and long-term financial security,” said Old Mutual Life Assurance Kenya Managing Director Martin Karenju.

The Kisumu Market Storm follows a similar engagement in Eldoret and previous activations in Thika, Nakuru and Mombasa, where Old Mutual has sought to connect customers with financial and insurance solutions.
